SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom is aimed at the SpongeBob crowd, which is namely kids. Overall, Battle for Bikini Bottom is ripe with variety and challenge, with only a few notable annoyances There are also a few boss battles too, spicing up the experience with ample action. A handful of puzzle-based areas are fun in concept, but can be frustrating in execution. By using all three characters' powers combined, you'll swing, slide, and battle through some brightly colored levels, defeating robots and collecting spatulas.
Both character possess unique abilities that help you progress, such as Sandy's hovering abilities and Patrick's item-tossing power. However, most levels allow you to swap between two characters, letting you control Spongebob's pals Sandy and Patrick. In addition to spatulas, you'll gather thousands of “shiny objects” which are used to unlock various paths and objectives, as well as Patrick's hidden socks.Ī good chunk of the game is appropriately played as Spongebob, who uses his bubble-blowing powers to navigate the treacherous stages. New levels are unlocked using these spatulas, so it's best to collect as many as possible. Each level contains several golden spatulas, which can be earned by completing objectives and exploring the environment. Most levels are recreations of classic Spongebob locations, including his iconic neighborhood, downtown Bikini Bottom, and more. The game is broken up into thirteen levels, accessible from a main hub area. Gameplayįor the most part, Battle for Bikini Bottom is a third-person action game that heavily features platforming and combat, along with some light puzzle solving. As the city devolves into utter chaos, Spongebob and his pals must come in and save the day. Unfortunately, after activating the machine, Plankton realizes that he has no control over the robots, which quickly turn on him and begin to ransack Bikini Bottom. Using his impressive skills with robotics and engineering, Plankton crafts the Duplicatotron 3000, a machine designed to produce an army of destructive robots. Our tale begins with the villainous Plankton hatching a plan to steal the recipe for the delectable Krabby Patty burger. The story in Spongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom is relatively light, pushing you straight into the action after just a small dose of the narrative.
A consistently cheery atmosphere and silly characters make Battle for Bikini Bottom an uplifting experience for members of the whole family, although you'll need a bit of platforming skill to succeed. Using their unique abilities, you'll fight through thirteen exciting levels packed with enemies, hazards, and secrets to discover. As you fight to save the town of Bikini Bottom, Spongebob's pals will also hop in to help out.
